Dedicated to Andy for his inspiration

TOP FIVE COUPLES OF ALL TIME

5) Clark Kent and Lois Lane

clarkkent

What more can I say?...this couple went through more to be together than any couple in history.  Seriously, you name it and it happened to them...reversing the rotation of the earth to turn back time, fighting off the likes of Lex Luthor and Metallo, coming back from the dead (the whole Doomsday incident, yikes), a clone of Lois that prevented them from getting married...the list goes on.  But somehow, they still were able to have a kid, stay in love, and continually save the world all at the same time.  You say 'Fiction!', I say 'Bravo!'.

4) Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen

MJ

While it's easy to see what they accomplished together (6 championships, numerous MVP awards, all-NBA first team, etc.), the more telling sign of how great this couple was lies in what they had to deal with while seperated.  Michael couldn't hit a curveball while away from Scottie.  The Washington Wizards were almost as good as the Bulls dynasty if you discount about forty more wins a season and actually winning the championship...again, Scottie wasn't there to help MJ.  Coincidence?...I think not.  And what did Scottie accomplish without MJ?  Oh that's right.  He refused to go into a playoff game after a timeout, called Charles Barkley fat, got practically kicked off the Houston Rockets, and now tries to occasionally piece sentence fragments together commentating for ESPN...seriously, has there ever been another anchor on TV besides Pippen that could be replaced by Corky from Life Goes On and not be missed??

3) Tom and Jerry

tandj

Behind your usual cat vs. mouse attempted murder, don't be fooled....these guys loved each other.  Where are they now, you might ask?  Since their show was cancelled years ago, Tom and Jerry have fled the public eye in hopes of leading a quieter, more private life.  They currently reside in San Francisco where they own/run an animal shelter by day, and manage a gay nightclub called The Cheddar Litterbox by night.

2) Mr. Pibb and Red Vines

pibb and red vines

For years, men and women alike couldn't find the exact words to match what their hearts were feeling when they would consume this tasty and moderately unhealthy snack.  Then came the cult phenomenon 'Lazy Sunday' outlining the process two friends go through to see The Chronicles of Narnia.  From that point forward, people everywhere could now shout with all their might the joy they feel when they have a cold, refreshing soda in one hand and a sweet, sugary licorice-type candy in the other...."Pibb plus Red Vines equals crazy delicious!!"

1) Denise Richards and Neve Campbell

I'm sorry if this offends you...it's not meant to.  But honestly, if you grew up in the 90's and went to public school, owned a television, or had any friends at all you knew you had to see Wild Things.  And, after watching it for the first time, it will always hold a special place in your heart no matter how many times they release sequels that go straight to video.  What's not to like?  Denise Richards...good.  Neve Campbell...good.  Script....err it was trash, but Denise and Neve rocked didn't they??  All I'm trying to say here is that if Neve and Denise came up to me even today and asked me to give them a ride home from school, I would probably have to think about it.

Fantasy Football 06-07

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, it's that time of year...

Where the leaves change, the wind a bit more gusty, and men don't leave their couches on the weekend.  It's football season.

This past weekend I drafted my fantasy football team, and things are looking good so far.  I got three of some of the best players at each crucial position.  It's going to be a championship year for Gryffindor's Elite.

Without further ado, here are the team captains of Gryffindor's Elite for this season...

Carson 'Don't call me a Bungle' Palmer

Ladanian 'I'm not necessarily Christian but went to TCU' Tomlinson

Hines 'I'm a Steeler in all the right places, baby' Ward

Adam 'More Clutch than Peyton' Vinatieri

Go ahead...try to find flaws with those four cornerstones.  If you do, I'll tell you why you're wrong.  The rest of the team is solid...just not solid enough to post here.

Believe me...it's going to be a good year.

Back to the past...

It's weird...

As high schoolers we had these feelings that we suppress and shove way down, thinking that we'll go off to college one day and forget about them.  Well that's true to a point...I moved away, did the college thing, became almost a completely different person...and yet, I'm in the same frame of mind I was years ago.

I feel stupid right now to the point I wonder why I get so excited about something, and leave myself open to disappointment.  This didn't really happen in college.  I was more confident then I was in high school...that's the way it's supposed to be.  You become the person you'll be pretty much for the rest of your life.  But I didn't know you could go back...

I guess I just need to 'man up' as a friend or two has put it.  I think I'm just a slave to feeling disappointed.

A riddle for you...

See if you can answer.

Three friends check into a motel for the night and the clerk tells them the bill is $30, payable in advance.  So, they each pay the clerk $10 and go to their room.  A few minutes later, the clerk realizes he has made an error and overcharged the trio by $5.  He asks the bellhop to return $5 to the 3 friends who had just checked in.  The bellhop sees this as an opportunity to make $2 as he reasons that the three friends would have a tough time dividing $5 evenly among them; so he decides to tell them that the clerk made a mistake of only $3, giving a dollar back to each of the friends.  He pockets the leftover $2 and goes home for the day!  Now, each of the three friends gets a dollar back, thus they each paid $9 for the room which is a total of $27 for the night.  We know the bellhop pocketed $2 and adding that to the $27, you get $29, not $30 which was originally spent.  Where did the other dollar go????

Twenty-five cool points go to the person that can answer correctly.
